After the snow this weekend, I spent a few hours in my backyard and at the Stillwater Botanic Garden taking photos and video of birds in the snow. I put together a small video collage, titled “Blessings,” of what I found.

I recently got the chance to photograph some very colorful, loud, and lively chickens.
I stopped by the Stillwater Botanic Garden yesterday, but unfortunately there were very few flowers planted or blooming. On my way out I noticed three squirrels lounging in a tree about 6-7 feet above the ground. The adult was stretched out, relaxing on a thick branch. Two young squirrels were peeking in and out of their home – a hole in the same tree just under the branch. [Read more…]
Some days are just too nice to stay inside. Sunday was one of those days, with cool weather in the 60’s and partly cloudy, crisp blue skies. The sun would weave in and out of the clouds, leaving a perfect balance between hard and soft lighting for most of the day. I’ve had a little time to relax lately since I’ll be job hunting again in October – due to the recent closing of the company where I worked. The weather was great today. Temperatures were in the upper 70’s with a light breeze and partly cloudy skies, so I packed up my camera gear and spent the day at the Oklahoma City Zoo taking a few pics for fun. After 4 hours of walking, my feet and legs were killing me… but it was worth it. You definitely get your money’s worth for the $7 admission – not to mention a bit of exercise too.
